Labelling (naming) the drives doesn't force Windows to allocate that specific drive letter to the drive, when connected.

I cannot scan the F Drive nor reformulate it. Fortunately there is very little on the F Drive that I need but I am very puzzled by this. I checked > under Computer Management >Disk Management just now and it is still showing X Drive when it is not attached. I can access and edit the X Drive HD that opens instead but not the F Drive. However in the last few days Windows 10 is either not recognising the F Drive at all or opening it as the X Drive even when the X Drive is not attached. Windows 10 has for some time been opening the F Drive HD as an E Drive but I was able to access and edit it both prior and following recent clean install of Windows 10. I have 2 WD Elements External Hard Drives.
